Anubias Minima is a compact, slow-growing aquatic plant that comes from the Anubias genus (West Africa) and is prized for its narrow, dark green leaves and ease of care. Typically reaching about 3 to 6 inches (7.5 to 15 cm) in height when matured in aquarium conditions, but remain relatively small compared to many other plants, making them ideal for foreground or mid-ground placement in planted tanks. The leaves are elongated and lance-shaped, often forming a tight, low-profile clump that holds its shape well. A tank of virtually any size is suitable, including small aquariums, as long as the plant is placed where it won’t be buried and gets stable conditions. Anubias Minima does best when attached to a rock or driftwood, with the rhizome above the substrate to prevent rot. Provide moderate water flow and soft lighting to keep algae buildup down on the leaves. Water parameters should include a temperature of about 72 to 82°F (22 to 28°C), a pH between 6.0 and 7.5, and soft to moderately hard water. While this plant is very hardy and tolerant of many conditions, stable water quality and gentle lighting help it thrive with minimal maintenance. Feeding or fertilization of Anubias Minima is minimal. It will absorb nutrients from the water column and from its roots if anchored to driftwood or rock. Occasional liquid fertiliser and trimming of old or damaged leaves will keep it looking its best. Because it grows slowly, it does not demand heavy nutrient input or high light. Anubias Minima is compatible with virtually all freshwater community setups—including tanks with small fish, shrimp, and snails. Since it is tough and resilient, it is especially suited to aquariums where fish may dig or sift, because the plant tolerates moderate disturbance if its rhizome remains secure.
