This original 1965 motor-racing poster announces the Grand Prix de Paris, held on May 23 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry. Organised by the AGACI, the event formed part of France’s vibrant post-war racing culture and brought competitive motorsport to one of the country’s most historic circuits. The composition places the viewer directly beside the action. Two open-wheel racing cars appear to charge forward, with an enormous front tyre dominating the centre of the image. The drivers’ helmets, exposed suspension and low-slung bodies of the cars capture the distinctive appearance of 1960s racing machinery.
