Richard D. James has a penchant for taking an experimental approach to dance music. With his AFX identity he was able bring a bit of his trademark humor to the forefront. Analogue Bubblebath 4 grapples together 4 banging techno tracks with the centerpiece being "Cuckoo." It tracks like a video game soundtrack let loose. Series of staccato melodies play against each other as the cuckoos let loose in the jungle. The first and third of the untitled tracks feature punishing techno rhythms while samples of deranged animal sounds play out.
