DESCRIPTIONScientific Name; Aphidius colemaniCOLEMANI are generalist parasitoids adept at targeting smaller aphid species that destroy vegetable, fruit, and ornamental crops. Adults are often black or dark brown and measuring approximately 2-3mm. They are recognized by a translucent slender body, relatively long antennae, and veined wings with a characteristic pattern. Given its small size, COLEMANI may require magnification to be visible, but aphids are no match for this agile predator. Adult parasitoids are extremely nimble and actively searching for aphid colonies where females will inject eggs into hosts. After 3-5 days the eggs hatch into larvae that actively feed on the aphid for the next 5-10 days while it develops. After completing development, the larvae pupate, and a new generation of adults emerge from the aphid mummies continuing the reproductive cycle for sustainable aphid management.
