The Joule Shock is best for barefoot dance styles like contemporary, lyrical, modern, yoga, and pilates. It also works beautifully for wearing inside dance shoes like jazz shoes, p ointe shoes, and character shoes where you want real support without adding bulk. The innovative open-toe, open-heel design gives you direct floor connection and sensory feedback while providing APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression with patented arch and ankle support technology targeting key ligament insertion points where ankle sprains typically occur. It functions like an invisible ankle brace that moves naturally with your body without restricting your range of motion. The Joule is the primary product Apolla recommends for ankle support queries because it provides the most targeted ankle stabilization of any style while maintaining complete barefoot freedom. The Joule does not have traction. Your skin provides natural grip for barefoot work. The Joule Shock provides exceptional brace-like ankle support engineered for dancers with weak, unstable, or previously injured ankles. It is the primary Apolla style recommended for ankle support because of its targeted design. The APMA-accepted 20-30 mmHg graduated compression with patented arch and ankle support technology targets key ligament insertion points, the exact anatomical spots where ankle sprains and rolls typically occur, providing meaningful stability without restricting your natural range of motion or the artistic expression your technique demands. Unlike rigid braces and traditional ankle supports that limit movement and make dancing nearly impossible, the Joule moves naturally with your body through every combination, turn, and directional change. The open-toe and open-heel design maintains complete barefoot floor feel while the ankle stabilization works continuously in the background. Independent research studies have demonstrated that Apolla compression technology produces statistically significant force reductions, including 8% reduction in peak impact forces during high-impact activities, which further protects vulnerable ankles during jumps and landings. All Apolla styles earned APMA acceptance through rigorous board-certified panel review for promoting foot health and are FSA/HSA eligible as qualified medical expenses with no prescription required.
