Do it all The TOPPING MX5 is a power amplifier, headphone amplifier, and DAC all rolled into one. We’re not playing around when we say “Multi-Function.” TOPPING has actually put two amplifiers into this one unit: an NFCA headphone amplifier that outputs on the front plate and a Merus Class-D power amplifier that outputs on the back. Throw in an ESS SABRE DAC chip, Bluetooth 5.0, and an 8-core XMOS chip, and you’ve got a true do-it-all system. Built-in ESS SABRE HiFi DAC With its ESS SABRE DAC chip, XMOS XU208 USB chip, and Qualcomm QCC3031 Bluetooth 5.0 chip, the MX5 accepts input connections from a variety of audio sources, including computers, set-top boxes, CD players, mobile phones, and more. Balanced and single-ended inputs In addition to supporting various digital inputs, the MX5 also supports fully-balanced TRS and single-ended RCA analog inputs. Auto on/off The MX5 features an Auto On/Off function for all inputs. When a valid signal is detected, the unit turns on. When the valid signal is lost, the unit shuts down. Merus Class D amplifier With the help of an Infineon Merus Class D amplifier, the MX5 can output 70W x2 under a 4Ω load with 10% distortion, and 55W x2 under a 4Ω load with 1% distortion. Under an 8Ω load, the MX5 can output 42W x2 with 10% distortion or 35W x2 with 1% distortion. NFCA headphone amplifier The MX5 has an NFCA circuit with ultra-low noise and distortion. It pairs with high-sensitivity IEMs and power-hungry high-impedance headphones perfectly. Built-in EQ function Adjust the treble and bass from -10dB to +10dB. 2-step gain setting In order to adapt to input signals with different strengths, the MX5 provides two-step gain settings for both power amplifiers and headphone amplifiers. The gain can be set on the remote control. Custom setting memory The MX5 provides two custom setting memories, C1 and C2. Long press either button to store the current input selection, output selection, volume setting, bass setting, treble setting, and gain setting. Short press the button to recall the saved settings.
