Home grown Braeburn apples have a complex and deep flavour. When you bite into a tree ripened Braeburn apple, there is a rush of strong apple flavours. The overall flavour is sharp and refreshing but with a good balance of sweetness - and never sugary. They are crisp, without being hard, and very juicy. Braeburn stores very well though its flavour is at its best when fresh picked. This apple is green with an orangey red blush on the side facing the sun. Braeburn produces reliably every year and begins to bear at a young age. It is self-fertile, but fruiting is improved with a second tree. It likes a warm but not a hot climate and a south facing location is recommended. It is also suitable for espalier and cordons.
