Gala is a high quality apple which delivers really good flavor, particularly when home grown. A Gala apple straight from the tree has a punchy sweet flavour reminiscent of pear, no t found in supermarket specimens. The coloration starts out as a very light coloured with orange streaks over yellow; mature apples are much darker, often a strong red colour. Ripens in Late September and stores well.
