Apple trees are a cornerstone of the home orchard, offering lovely spring blooms and productive fall harvests. Offered as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, these trees can be planted throughout the growing season. This production method supports a healthy root system, allowing for successful establishment when the site is well-prepared. Malus domestica requires at least two cultivars to ensure pollination and fruit set. All of our apples are grafted onto B.118 rootstock, a clonally propagated selection known for producing cold-hardy, precocious bearing trees. This semi-standard rootstock produces trees that reach 80-85% of standard size. These trees are well-suited for orchards, edible landscaping, or garden settings. They prefer full sun and slightly acidic or neutral soil that drains well. At maturity, trees on this rootstock typically reach 20 to 25 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide. Starting with potted stock allows for flexibility in planting timing while ensuring the tree is ready to settle into its permanent location. With proper care and compatible pollination partners, these grafted apples will develop into productive, long-lived components of the landscape.
