This apple has been around for over 200 years, originating in the Eastern US. King is a suitable name for this extra large apple. It has excellent smooth golden-green fruits that a re flushed with red streaks. The juicy flesh is quite coarse and crunchy while the flavour is sweet but balanced with acidity. Grow this tree for the old fashioned apple flavour that you remember from your childhood. We grow our King apple as an espalier, but the growth is strong and heavy, so it is probably better suited to use as a stand alone tree. It requires a pollinator. Show more
