Inspired by Aomori Prefecture’s famed apples, this handmade charming pair of glass small plates captures their delicate beauty in miniature. Each plate shimmers with soft transluce nce and nuanced color. One recalls the freshness of a green apple, with pale yellow and white gently intertwined. The other glows with soft shades of red, pink, and white, echoing the warmth of a ripe apple. Though distinct in color, both share a warm tone that gently complements everyday meals. This small plate is crafted using a technique known as spin forming. Molten glass is poured into a metal mold, which is then rotated so that centrifugal force shapes the piece. The final look varies subtly depending on how the mold is turned and at what speed, giving each piece a slightly different character. Even when the same mold is used, every artisan leaves a faint but distinct signature in the finished work. Compact yet versatile, they’re ideal for small sides, condiments, or sweets, and suit both Japanese and Western tables with ease. Light-catching and palm-sized, each plate brings a subtle sparkle—making this pair both practical and gift-worthy. Show more
