Remarks: The Apure jelly catfish (Cephalosilurus apurensis) is a true monster fish and oddball. They easily exceed a foot in length and have a mouth that can open wide enough to grab onto fish that are of similar size. It is a species best kept alone as even if they are unable to swallow a fish, they are still likely to attack tankmates, especially other bottom-dwellers. They more than make up for this with their mottled coloration and entertaining personalities. Most will become comfortable enough with people to take food from your hand though this should be done with caution due to the potential of being bitten.
