Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit is a professional marine aquarium water test kit designed for quick and accurate measurement of carbonate hardness, also known as KH or alkalinity. Alkalinity is one of the most important reef aquarium parameters, helping support stable pH, coral calcification, skeletal development and overall marine aquarium stability. Ideal for reef aquariums, SPS systems, LPS systems and mixed coral tanks, Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit helps aquarists monitor KH levels as part of a regular testing, water change and dosing routine. With enough reagents for approximately 78–100 tests, this kit is a practical choice for reef keepers who need reliable alkalinity readings before adjusting KH supplements, Balling method dosing or automatic dosing systems. Key Features Professional KH and alkalinity test kit for marine aquariums Measures carbonate hardness quickly and accurately Suitable for reef aquariums and saltwater systems Helps monitor one of the key parameters for coral health Supports pH stability and balanced reef chemistry Useful for SPS, LPS, soft coral and mixed reef aquariums Helps guide KH supplement and dosing adjustments Recommended KH range for ULNS reef systems: 6.5–8.0 dKH Includes reagents, syringes, test vial and measuring accessories Provides approximately 78–100 alkalinity tests Product Overview Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit has been developed for marine aquarists who need to measure KH levels accurately and consistently. In reef aquariums, carbonate hardness is gradually consumed by corals, coralline algae, clams and other calcifying organisms. If KH falls too low or changes too quickly, pH stability can be affected and corals may become stressed. Regular alkalinity testing allows aquarists to understand how quickly their aquarium consumes KH and whether supplementation is required. This is especially important in reef systems using KH Plus, Component dosing, Balling method supplementation or automatic dosing pumps. Benefits for Reef Aquariums Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit helps reef keepers make informed dosing decisions rather than guessing how much KH supplement to add. Stable alkalinity is essential for coral calcification, pH stability and balanced reef aquarium chemistry. KH should also be monitored alongside calcium and magnesium, as all three parameters work closely together in marine aquariums. Keeping alkalinity stable helps support better coral growth, improved polyp extension and a healthier reef environment. Suitable For Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit is suitable for: Marine aquariums Reef aquariums SPS coral systems LPS coral systems Mixed reef aquariums Soft coral aquariums Aquariums with clams or coralline algae growth Reef keepers using KH supplements Aquariums using Balling method or Component dosing Aquarists monitoring calcium, KH and magnesium balance This product is designed for marine aquarium alkalinity testing and is especially useful in reef systems where stable water chemistry is essential. What’s Included The Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit includes: Reagent A-KH – 10ml bottle Reagent B-KH – 50ml bottle Test vial 3ml syringe 1ml syringe Syringe tip Quality certificate Instruction manual The kit contains enough reagents to perform approximately 78–100 carbonate hardness tests. How to Use Use the Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit according to the instructions supplied inside the box. For best results, use clean testing equipment, follow each reagent step carefully and read the result under good lighting. Always rinse the test vial and syringes after use and avoid contaminating the reagents. Testing at the same time of day and recording results can help identify alkalinity consumption trends more accurately. Testing Advice Test KH regularly as part of your reef aquarium maintenance routine, especially if you keep SPS corals, LPS corals, clams or coralline algae. Aquaforest recommends 6.5–8.0 dKH for Ultra Low Nutrient Systems, with higher KH values permissible in aquariums with higher nutrient levels. Avoid making large sudden KH adjustments, as rapid alkalinity changes can stress corals and destabilise the aquarium. Always monitor alkalinity alongside calcium and magnesium for a more complete understanding of reef water chemistry. When to Use Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Kit is useful when: Monitoring KH levels in a reef aquarium Adjusting KH supplements or dosing pumps Using Balling method or Component dosing Keeping SPS or LPS corals Supporting coral calcification and skeletal growth Investigating unstable pH or coral stress Checking KH after water changes Tracking daily or weekly alkalinity consumption Storage Store the test kit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep reagents tightly closed after use and away from children. This product is intended for aquarium testing only and is not suitable for consumption.
