The new SA45 is expertly crafted in Cambridge UK, it is born of our best integrated amplifier, the ARCAM A49. The SA45 features superb sound quality and has been achieved through thoughtful engineering of a new 6-layer digital audio and streaming platform which includes a ground plane through the entire board to keep noise and interference away from the sensitive audio components. These components include the latest Hyperstream iV DAC topology from ESS, in a balanced configuration with advanced Jitter elimination. Sound quality is enhanced further with a new linear toroidal transformer power supply design that drives the entirety of the internal operation with lower noise, and a switching supply that only operates for peak efficiency when in standby. The SA45 features 5th generation Class G amplifier design is meticulously crafted so you can expect the best sound quality and dynamics from what has always been a better sounding, and more efficient Class of amplifier. New components and materials have been painstakingly analysed and reviewed to ensure uncompromising sound performance. “Like a hybrid car engine, Class G implements multiple power supplies rather than just a single supply. If a dynamic signal is received that goes beyond the capability of this first power supply, the secondary supply is gradually brought in up to full rated power output as required. This gives a very efficient design as additional power is only used when required, much like a turbo-charger. Modern high-speed silicon allows us the make this switch faster that would ever be required, even way beyond the audio bandwidth, so there is no “turbo lag”. “The first power supply is of lower power and within this region we run in pure Class A (approx. 20+ watts/ch), which has no crossover distortion. As the secondary supply (Class AB) is only used when required, extreme levels of power are possible because very little energy is wasted in the amplifier as heat when it is not being used. Without control this power would be ill-used, so like high-performance car tyres, multiple output devices within the amplifier keep a tight grip on the loudspeaker at all times, ensuring your listening experience never “leaves the road”.” The SA45 features a large, bonded 8.8" high-resolution display to show album artwork and metadata which is clearly legible from the comfort of your preferred armchair.
