Arctic Fox is an excellent material for use as a wing in smaller flies and as an under-wing in bigger flies. It also great as a shoulder on big wings. Simply tie at as the last ste p of the wing and keep it at approximately one third of the length of the wing and you will get a nice profile. Arctic Fox is the softest of all fox materials. The guard-hair of these tails is approximately 2 inches on average. Arctic fox is the most common type of fox used for fly tying. For bigger flies Silver fox is a better choice. The hair on Silver fox tails is longer than Arctic fox tail hair.
