The Ord River Dam has backed the water of the Ord River up into one of the largest lakes in the country. We camped on the shore of the lake the night before this image was taken and the sunset that night gave me great enthusiasm for the colours of the rock walls surrounding the lake. Walls that had been part of river canyons for countless years suddenly saw the evening light reflected onto them from the setting sun. We disembarked from our boat, wary of the freshwater crocodiles that dotted the shoreline, allowing me to get this image with the water of the lake calmed by a long exposure, before we headed back out on the boat for some champagne and a swim.
