Arita ware (有田焼, Arita-yaki) is a Japanese pottery. Arita-yaki originated from the historic town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, Japan, and is the oldest center of porcelain productio n in Japanese history. Arita-yaki is a pure white porcelain base with gorgeous glaze and delicate paintings. This beautiful gaiwan is made from Jingdezhen ceramic mud in China. First, the ceramicist applies Arita glaze on it, and then a special soda glaze is applied.
