A design icon with a story. In 2006, Italian designer Martino Gamper created the Arnold Circus Stool for a community regeneration project in Shoreditch, East London. The stool beca me the official seating for neighborhood events: circus picnics, brass band concerts, flower plantings, film nights. From that very specific, very local beginning, it went from a disused park in East London to becoming a sight in international art centers and people's homes across the world. There's even a zine about it. The faceted geometric shape looks as good as it functions. Equally at home outdoors on a patio, beside a fireplace, in a bathroom, or in a kid's room being climbed on. It’s made to withstand water, sun, and heat. Can even be used in the shower! Use it as a seat, a side table, a towel stand, or flip it upside down for storage. Show more
