With a structure that mimics the loose, organic debris of the forest floor, this mix provides excellent drainage, long-term airflow, and stable moisture retention - without staying overly wet. As each plant caretaker has different watering and feeding habits, and your environment the plants are growing in, you need to adjust your watering schedule to match the substrate and how dense / water retentive it is. As the mix is ready-made and contains organic matter like worm-casting compost and tree fern fiber, it is supposed to be used right after receiving. It's important to keep the bag open as soon as you receive it (or ideally, stored in an open container). This is to prevent mold that can develop if the mix doesn't get access to air.
