Safe Use of Essential Oil Blends Pure, plant based essential oils are highly concentrated and need to be properly diluted for safest use. To use the Modicum essential oil blends, one can simply open the bottle and inhale their aroma to experience the effects of each blend. To use topically, the essential oil blends can be diluted in a carrier oil, massage oil or unscented lotion base. Add 5-10 drops of the essential oil blend per 1 ounce (2 Tablespoons) of base oil, mix well and apply to the body massaging the affected parts. To use as an aromatherapy spritzer, add 5-10 drops of the essential oil blend to 1 ounce (2 Tablespoons) of distilled or spring water, shake well and spritz generously. To add to a bath, add the essential oil blend to 1 cup of bath salts, mix well and then add the scented salt bath to your hot water.
