Description Score: 94 pts Descorchados Colosso Arrogante Malbec 2022 is a powerful and expressive Malbec from Finca Los Amores, Los Chacayes, in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, grown at approximately 1,150 meters above sea level on rocky, calcareous, well-drained soils that contribute structure, minerality, and concentration to the wine. The wine undergoes cold pre-fermentative maceration for 6 days at 8–10°C, followed by fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation and aging for 18 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a wine with depth, complexity, and elegant oak integration. In the glass, it shows a deep violet color with high intensity. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of black fruits such as plum, cherry, and cassis, along with violets, spices, black pepper, clove, licorice, and subtle graphite and menthol notes. On the palate, the wine has a sweet entry, great concentration, and full body, with velvety yet firm tannins and balanced acidity. The oak aging adds notes of vanilla and spice, while the finish is long, persistent, and expressive, with a fruity and spicy aftertaste. A robust, elegant, and age-worthy Malbec.
