About the MakerBöhlmarks Lighting Factory was founded in Stockholm in 1872 by Arvid Böhlmark. Starting out as a manufacturer of gas and kerosene lamps, the company played a central role in transitioning Swedish homes and public spaces to electric lighting. During the early 20th century Böhlmarks became one of Scandinavia's most respected lighting manufacturers, collaborating with leading architects and designers of the day including Gunnar Asplund and Harald Notini. Their pieces, ranging from chandeliers and pendants to wall sconces, were known for combining superior craftsmanship with the prevailing design currents of the time, from Art Nouveau through Swedish Grace and into Scandinavian Modern.
