This is one of my most popular images, “Mermaid.” Originally captured at the seaside in Portugal, it took many years of experimentation, first in the pre-digital era and finally wi th modern digital tools, to achieve the final result. The model, a young girl at the time, saw the completed work 30 years later, surrounded by her grandchildren. As I travel, seeking nature's beauty—woods, seas, deserts, and sometimes urban landscapes—I capture reality with my camera.
