This issue is a collaboration between Art Papers and the Architecture Society of Atlanta. Guest editors from the then fledgling organization examine architecture from a standpoint that decentralizes the building/object and redistributes attention and value to the necessary philosophical, literary, anthropological and metaphysical ideologies. Robert Segrest explores the construction of space as metaphor in literature, Jay Fellows examines Walter Pater poetry, an excerpt from Guy Davenports Apples and Pears appears. Jennifer Bloomer brilliantly dissects what it means to be a "part" of a whole, through fragments of excerpts from other authors, leading us into a feature wrap-up with Henry Methvin and a nice chronological bow examining the future "of contemporary criticism".
