Artemis Bast: the ancient Greeks liked to identify the deities of nations they occupied with their hellenic pantheon. Bast, the Egyptian goddess of cats was synchronized with Artem is the goddess of animals. Here Artemis-Bast with her hooded cloak and quiver of arrows, holds a cat and they look beyond. I created this painting in Rhodes after visiting a temple of Artemis. The island is covered with cats and the people adore abd care for them. I saw a sweet mommy and her kittens there.
