About the Workshop Come join us for the Artography workshop! This 3-hour session is designed for beginning and reluctant artists, with light instruction and lots of time for experimentation. You'll learn some basic oil pastel techniques suitable for an abstract style, then create your own masterpiece! All supplies are yours to keep, and you'll have an extra canvas board for an independent project after the session. Before going home, you'll complete some short workbook activities and have the opportunity to show and talk about your art in a small group. You'll also discuss your experience creating, your thoughts on the topics presented in the workbook, and your plans for your new piece. Creative expression helps us explore ourselves and document states of consciousness that can't be captured in other ways, just like maps help us explore and document the world around us. The goal of this experience is to help participants "find [themselves] in art," by providing an opportunity for free creative expression in a friendly, low-stakes environment.
