Thor leads, and that one fact is what separates this box from most four-character bundles: it starts an Asgard collection legally rather than adding to one. Hela, Loki, God of Mischief and Valkyrie join him, and between them you have a squad that can take the table without another purchase.Asgard's character is durability. These are models that expect to be attacked and to still be standing afterwards, so the affiliation forgives positioning mistakes that would end a game for a fragile roster. What it does not forgive is being outnumbered. Valkyrie is the only genuinely affordable character here, so a full-size squad drawn only from this box will be short of bodies for a crisis that spreads objectives across the board.The versions matter if you are comparing boxes. Thor, Loki and Valkyrie appear here in different incarnations to the ones in the Asgardians Starter Set, and Hela is not in the starter at all, so the overlap between the two is much smaller than the character names suggest. The Warriors of Asgard Affiliation Pack is the natural follow-up, and Valkyrie on Elendil & Warriors Three is where the cheap bodies come from. Skip this if you want a fast, tricky squad, because Asgard is neither.
