Ash heartwood can vary from a light to medium brown. Grain has a medium to coarse texture similar to oak. The grain is almost always straight and regular, though sometimes moderate ly curly or figured boards can be found. Workability White ash produces good results with hand or machine tools. Responds well to steam bending. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Common uses White ash is commonly used for flooring, millwork, boxes/crates, baseball bats, and other turned objects such as tool handles. Janka Hardness 1,320 lbf (5,870 N) NOTE: White ash is only available in shorts less than 6'. White ash is sold by the board foot. A board foot is a wood measurement for a piece of lumber 12" wide by 1' long by 1" thick for estimating purposes.
