A place to gather what matters. More than a place for containing things, the Aspen is a modern wooden display tray that gives everyday objects presence. Its sculptural, leaf-inspired form creates a gentle tabletop cradle for magazines, collected stones, your favorite succulents, small ceramics, or the everyday objects you want to keep close. Its generous surface gives those pieces room to coexist, while its shallow curves bring them together, turning a simple arrangement into a quiet focal point. Created in response to requests for a lower-profile version of the Aspen Magazine Rack, the Display Tray carries the same aspen-leaf-inspired form into a more open and versatile object. Its low silhouette rests naturally on a coffee table, ottoman, dining table, console or dresser, where it functions as both a sculptural display tray and a warm architectural presence—even when left empty. Each Aspen Display Tray is handmade in my Leonard, Michigan studio. I begin with ten layers of sustainably harvested wood veneer, carefully gluing, molding, trimming, sanding, and finishing each piece by hand. Bent plywood gives the tray its strength while allowing the form to remain visually light. Along its edges, the exposed layers quietly reveal the process behind its making. A hand-applied oil and wax finish enriches the wood’s natural character while providing durable, water- and stain-resistant protection. Cork feet keep the tray steady and protect the surface beneath it. Explore more handcrafted home decor, or see how Ciseal’s bent plywood pieces are made. Designed to hold a changing arrangement of meaningful objects, the Aspen Display Tray helps create a home that feels considered—not all at once, but layer by layer.
