The Greek goddess of craft is the name sake for our beautiful, intricate new Athena rug for good reason. The pinnacle of weaving skill, every Athena rug is hand loomed from memory by one of our incredibly skilled weavers. Our smallest 150/90cm size takes our most skilled weavers 11 days to complete, using an incredibly complicated Panja rug weaving technique, and incorporating a highly complex raised woven motif design that gives beautiful depth of texture and tacticity. It’s beautiful to look at, but even lovelier to touch. A joyful riot of vibrant colour, inspired by naïve folk art and incorporating motifs associated with running water, rams horns for fertility, and floral patterns to express the abundance of nature and harvest, Athena is as happy on the wall as a folk-art hanging, behind a bed as a textured and colourful bed head or underfoot as a colourful and uplifting machine washable rug.
