In honor of the protective role women play in their communities, this month I have spotlighted my one-of-a-kind necklace set featuring the Greek goddess Athena, guardian of her cit y, worn with a lantern and an evil eye charm. Athena's image is shown on a cast of a Greek tetradrachm coin dated from circa 400 BCE that was unearthed during the excavation of the construction site of the Acropolis Museum. The obverse of the coin portrays the head of Athena wearing an Attic helmet decorated with olive leaves and a palmette. The image depicted on the reverse is an owl together with an olive branch, a crescent and the inscription ΑΘΕ for Athens. The coin is handset in a 22K bezel. As part of the curated set, the golden lantern charm draws inspiration from a scene in the Odyssey. It represents the extraordinary lamp Athena used to guide Odysseus and Telemachus, signifying her divine presence as she helps them reclaim their household. The evil eye charm symbolizes Athena's ability to deflect harm from those she loves. Show more
