Why It’s Important Manganese plays a vital role in coral coloration, photosynthesis, and enzyme function, especially in SPS corals and zooxanthellae. Low manganese levels can lead to pale coloration and reduced zooxanthellae activity. Manganese is removed by skimmers, carbon, ozone, and zeolite, making regular supplementation beneficial.
