The Atari 2600 game Atlantis is a fixed shooter genre game released in 1982. Players defend the mythical underwater city of Atlantis against enemy attack. The screen displays three bases, represented as cannons, that the player operates to fend off waves of descending Gorgon vessels. The gameplay involves shooting at the enemy ships before they reach Atlantis and destroy its protective domes with bombing raids. Despite simplistic graphics typical of the era, Atlantis delivered engaging, fast-paced action, and it remains a beloved title among retro gaming enthusiasts.
