Participating artists were given identical postcards and asked to create a unique piece for the show inspired by the theme “wanderlust”. Travel via boat, plane, foot, and yes, even jellyfish to your favorite destination in this eclectic and imaginative exhibition! Gretchen Lewis is an illustrator and pop-surrealist painter, working primarily in oil on wood. The creatures and characters in her paintings are often personal manifestations of Gretchen’s own weird little obsessions. She draws inspiration from her endless fascination with nature, biology and the cycles of life, from her growing collection of sad, broken vintage toys, and from a childhood spent devouring classic children’s books, Golden Age illustration and early cartoons.
