Reasoning is one of the four proficiency strands in the Australian Curriculum. Written to help teachers use attribute blocks to help children learn to reason and apply logic, this book will allow you to gain the most from this resource. The games and activities contained in this book are designed to focus on the Problem Solving and Reasoning Proficiency strands. Attribute Blocks are the ideal mathematics manipulative for developing: Sorting simple and complex (Venn and Carroll diagram) Classifying Logic and Reasoning An understanding of sets Mathematical language ‘and’ or ‘not’ Working with Attribute Blocks will expose students to inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning, where a series of logical arguments are strung together. The development of mathematical language ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘not, ‘if’… then may all be developed when using Attribute Blocks.
