Au Bon Climat, the wine label began by Santa Barbara County native Jim Clendenen in 1982 has always made waves in the California wine scene. Obsessed with Burgundian wines, Jim beg an his winery producing juice of refined, terroir driven elegance, subtlety, and balance. Through the wine boom of the 1990s, with wine critics clambering for bigger, bolder, and more alcohol-heavy wines, Jim stuck to his guns and his vision, and to this day Au Bon Climat produces wines with nuance and verve. An amazingly layered Pinot Noir, full of Bing cherry, cranberry and red currant, with undertones of dark chocolate and crushed leaves.
