Aucuba japonica variegata, also called the Gold Dust Tree or Japanese Laurel, is a compact shrub featuring vibrant, large, glossy leaves on yellow to green stems. When both male an d female plants are nearby, the female produces red fruit that persists through winter. Ideal for shaded corners and dappled light under trees, it serves as an excellent background in a shrubbery but should be shielded from intense sunlight. Feed with blood and bone in spring or summer. Tolerates neglect but benefits from a hard spring prune for denser growth.Soil: Well-drained but moist, fertile soil. Mulch to retain moisture, water in hot/dry periods.Conditions: Full shade.
