Aucuba Rozanne A compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub valued for its deep green, glossy foliage and excellent tolerance of shade. Small, purplish flowers appear in spring; on female plants these may be followed by bright red berries. Ideal for adding year-round structure in lightly to fully shaded borders, underplanting beneath trees, or for low-maintenance screening in sheltered spots. Thrives in most well-drained soils (including clay and chalk) and is a reliable, low-care choice for Irish gardens; avoid waterlogged ground and cold, drying winds.
