Hear all the nuances and subtlety the artist intended! USB tends to get a bad rap on various audio discussion forums. Our take is that sometimes USB is indeed the inferior choice compared to others like AES or coaxial - but in other situations it can also be the best possible option. It really depends on the implementation used by your DAC as well as your transport. There are plenty of products where the USB solution is merely adequate, or in some cases even rather poor. Yet certain devices are so optimized that USB is in fact the top choice. If that describes your system, the Veritas Audax Reference can help you make the most of it. Note that the Audax Reference has fairly large connectors, which could potentially be an issue where space is limited. For example: when using a general purpose desktop PC for playback, the Audax likely won't fit into a USB port if there are other devices plugged in immediately adjacent. In most other cases, such as dedicated audiophile streamers or music servers, there shouldn't be a problem. But definitely plan ahead based on your own equipment to avoid any issues. The stock configuration listed here is for our usual 1.5m length, terminated with USB A on the one end and USB B on the other. We can do custom lengths if needed, just drop us a message. At present the Audax can not be built with USB C connectors, but we do offer our Velox USB cable in that configuration with type C.
