Aunan is a French fig variety that comes from Thierry of Figues du Monde. Locals have long helped themselves to this variety as it grew on a large mother tree in a farmyard in Gers in the southwest of France. Aunan figs were used by the locals in traditional dishes like jams and as an accompaniment for foie gras. The hardy mother tree of Aunan has stood the test of time and the elements, with figs ripening each August and September. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
