Autechre's pivotal 4th album, from 1997, sees them start to gradually shift away from the more linear sound of their first 3 albums, but not yet reach the disjointed and difficult sound that characterizes their work from Confield (2001) on. Chiastic Slide, the duo's fourth album, continued their move towards more experimental, glitch-ridden sonics in the wake of previous album Tri Repetae, while LP5 saw them go further still into IDM territor.
