Autorace- S/T LP. I'm often a sucker for this type of hyperactive indie rock that draws from classics like Pavement, the Pixes and Sonic Youth- so the debut album from Holland's Autorace had me hooked from the beginning. While listening to this record, I kept thinking of the Furtips, who fit in roughly the same vein; though the liner notes contain no names or information whatsoever, a quick Google search confirmed my suspicion that this band is indeed related to the Dutch legends. That kind of surprised me as this album sounds more like it came from a group of fresh youngsters than seasoned indie rockers. Actually, the Pixies is the most apt reference point, and I would even go as far to say that this is probably what the follow-up to "Trompe Le Monde" would've sounded like.
