Avestan is what Brandon Truaxe, the founder of skincare company Deciem, was working on with a perfumer when he fell from a building in Tor onto and died in January 2019. The scent, inspired by his Iranian heritage and trips to Morocco, was the last secretive act for a CEO who had behaved erratically in the final months of his life: announcing via Instagram that he was taking control of the company’s marketing, and later that he was closing down Deciem because employees had been involved in “major criminal activity”.
