What is Avoca Caustic Pencil 40%? Avoca Silver Nitrate Caustic Pencils are specially designed for a single patient for multiple uses. An Avoca Pencil has approximately 350mg of potassium nitrate and silver nitrate mixture, this is approximately 10 times more silver nitrate than an applicator. This red plastic and red carton holder signals a 40% silver nitrate mixture. All Avoca Pencils have a 5-year shelf life from the date of manufacture. Usage Take a single or more drop of water, as required, on a non-absorbent, clean surface like an upturned drinking glass or stainless steel container. In the drop of water gently stir the tip of a pencil for about 20 to 30 seconds. Silver nitrate is quickly dissolved in the water from the tip. Ingredients Each Avoca Caustic Pencil contains an active ingredient of 40% w/w silver nitrate and it also contains potassium nitrate of 60% w/w.
