Azacca™ Hops for Bright Tropical Fruit, Citrus, and Modern Hop Intensity Azacca™ is a U.S. grown hop, offered here in standard T-90 pellet form and widely used by brewers who want bold late-hop and dry-hop character with strong fruit expression. Released by the American Dwarf Hop Association in 2014 after being known as experimental variety #483, Azacca™ quickly earned a place in modern hop-forward brewing because of its combination of high alpha acids, strong oil content, and expressive aroma. Lot-specific flavor and aroma notes may include Tangerine. That combination makes Azacca™ more than just another fruit-forward hop. It has the bittering strength to work efficiently early in the boil, but it is most often chosen for the intense aroma and flavor it can deliver in whirlpool and dry-hop applications. For brewers building modern pale ales and IPAs, Azacca™ offers both flexibility and personality. Flavor and Brewing Character Azacca™ is known for grapefruit, pineapple, and gooseberry character, backed by mango, peach, and light herbal notes that can sometimes lean into basil-like complexity. It is a vibrant hop with plenty of tropical energy, but it still carries enough structure to avoid feeling one-note in the finished beer. In the brewhouse, Azacca™ is especially well suited to late additions, whirlpool use, and dry hopping, though its alpha acid range also makes it useful as a dual-purpose hop. It fits naturally in IPAs, pale ales, and other modern hop-forward beers where bright tropical and citrus expression is a core part of the recipe. Why Brewers Choose Azacca™ Brewers often choose Azacca™ when they want a hop that brings modern fruit-forward intensity without becoming muddy or overly sweet. It works well on its own, blends easily with other contemporary U.S. varieties, and remains a dependable option when the goal is expressive aroma with enough bitterness potential to stay versatile.
