About the real one : The CC72000 series are diesel-electric locomotives, 92 of which were built for the French National Railway Company SNCF by Alsthom. These are the most powerful diesel locomotives of the SNCF. The first was commissioned in 1967. In international service, the CC 72000s regularly served the Swiss cities of Basel and Geneva with the services Paris - Basel via Mulhouse and Valence - Geneva via Grenoble. On this last service, the CC 72000s towed compositions of up to fourteen Corail cars on Fridays and Sundays. The CC72000s had their heyday with the traction of the Trans-Europ-Express (TEE) "Jules Verne" Paris-Montparnasse - Nantes (395.1 km) created on September 1975, and "L'Arbalète" Paris-Est - Zurich to Basel from September 1969 until May 1979. They also hauled the outward and return trains Grenoble - Nantes or Grenoble - Bordeaux (“Le Ventadour”) in domestic service, guaranteed end-to-end connections which were among their longest journeys in passenger service. In December 2009, the CC72000s carried out their last regular commercial services on the Nantes - Tours - Lyon cross-section.
