About This Days to Bloom: 63 to 77 Seed tapes simplify planting and are especially helpful when handling small seeds. So, as we look back and realize what an improvement Snow Cryst als was over other sweet alyssum varieties when it arrived on the scene in 1988, we also appreciate the simplicity of planting with seed tape. Snow Crystals, takes sweet alyssum from a rather delicate annual to something tougher for the high heat and humidity of the dog days. And our Sow Effortless Collection of seed tapes, mats, discs, and kits means even the smallest seeds are easy to plant too. Snow Crystals was the first tetraploid sweet alyssum, which means that it has twice the chromosomes of older (diploid) varieties. Twice the chromosomes means lots more vigor, as well as specific improvements such as much greater heat and wind tolerance, larger flower size, and longer staying power. Now, using seed tape, you can easily create edging and groundcover designs with sweet alyssum, because the tapes have pre-sown seeds embedded at proper intervals you can enjoy Snow Crystals for months, while planting them in minutes.
