Michael Mason This 1963 watercolor on paper abstract color field is by Chicago painter and printmaker Michael L. Mason (1896-1963). Mason received his PhD in Anatomy from Northwest ern University School of Medicine in 1924 and became an accomplished hand surgeon, pioneering the field of tendon recovery. He painted throughout his life and his printmaking was represented in each International Biennial Color Lithographic Exhibit from 1950-1956. Mason was related to painter Barbara Lewis and this collection of minimal watercolor abstracts, painted in the last year of his life, was acquired through her family's estate. 1963 Watercolor on Paper 14.25"x18" unframed Estate stamped lower right. Excellent vintage condition. Framed in a contemporary wood framed with a cool-gold finish using clear archival spacers behind conservation clear glass. Show more
