Barbara Lewis Entitled Gatlinburg, this 1947 watercolor on paper abstracted landscape scene is by Chicago-based painter, photographer, and printmaker Barbara Lewis (1925-2008). Lew is studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1943), University of Illinois at Chicago (1967-70), and the IIT Institute of Design (MFA in Printmaking, 1970-72). Through her mixed-media compositions, she explored Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, often using imagery of Chicago and her travels to Europe and Northern Africa. 1947 Watercolor on Paper 11.5"x9" unframed Signed, dated and titled lower left.
