See Trade Pricing → This product is a pack of three raw coco coir bricks — the ideal base substrate for growers who want to create their own custom growing mixes in bulk. Blend with perlite, vermiculite, or your preferred amendments to suit any plant. Prefer a ready-made option? Our plant-specific growing mixes (coming soon) are pre-blended and ready to use straight from the bag. Good to know: Coco coir is also known in the trade as “coco peat” or “coir pith” — it is the fine, spongy material from coconut husks. Despite the name, it contains absolutely zero peat and is 100% peat-free. Three 5kg bricks, each expanding to 75 litres — 225 litres of professional-grade, calcium-buffered coco coir in one order. The smart bulk buy for allotment holders, greenhouse growers, and serious propagators. Three individually wrapped bricks, each ready to expand on demand. Use one, store the rest. No rinsing, no conditioning, no adjustment required. Why Bulk Buyers Choose Buffered Unbuffered coco coir depletes calcium and magnesium from your nutrient solution before your plants can access them — a costly problem when you are running multiple crops, large raised beds, or a commercial propagation programme. Our bricks are calcium-buffered at source: cation exchange sites are already filled, so every batch performs consistently from the first grow to the last. No conditioning, no adjustment, no wasted product. Key Features 225 litres total from three compact 5kg compressed bricks Washed and calcium-buffered — flushes out excess salts and prevents nutrient lock-out from day one Stable pH 5.5–6.5, ultra-low EC — ready to use straight from the pack Naturally resistant to mould — supports healthy root development (natural lignin structure) Low sodium — gentle on salt-sensitive plants and seedlings Superior water retention and airy texture — keeps compost moist while preventing waterlogging 100% peat-free and biodegradable — made from renewable coconut husk fibre Three individually wrapped bricks — use one at a time, store the rest Saves nearly £4 compared to buying three singles Dispatched from our UK warehouse within 1 working day Shrink film: LDPE ≥ 30% recycled — widely recyclable How to Use Place one brick in a large bucket or container. Add 20 litres of clean water (warm water speeds expansion). Wait 20–30 minutes while the brick swells (expands to 75L). Fluff thoroughly with a fork or hand tool until light and even. Repeat for each brick as needed. Use alone or blend with perlite (70:30 ratio) for improved drainage and aeration. Begin feeding with a balanced nutrient solution from week one. Suitable For Large raised beds, greenhouse benches, allotment plots, polytunnels, bulk propagation, and season-long supply for serious growers. Technical Specifications Net weight: 15kg total (3 × 5kg bricks) Expanded volume: approximately 225 litres total pH: 5.5–6.5 EC: Ultra-low Pre-buffered: Yes (calcium and magnesium) Format: Three individually wrapped compressed bricks Saving vs 3 singles: approximately £4 Shelf life: 24 months from manufacture when stored correctly Prefer a Ready-Made Mix? If you'd rather skip the blending, our plant-specific growing mixes are formulated for individual plant types — houseplants, tomatoes, herbs, orchids, cacti, and seed starting. Coco Peat Calculator → Buffering specification Every batch is calcium-buffered at source and lab-tested before dispatch. This pre-saturates the cation-exchange (CEC) sites with calcium so your fertiliser-supplied calcium and magnesium stay plant-available, and keeps electrical conductivity (EC) low for predictable nutrient uptake. pH: 5.5–6.5 (ideal for most plants) Electrical conductivity (EC): below 0.5 mS/cm in fresh hydrated coir Buffering: calcium-buffered at source (not buffered at home; no Cal-Mag pre-treatment required) Source: direct import from Kerala, India — no middlemen Batch testing: EC and pH lab-tested on every batch before dispatch Want to understand the chemistry?
